Visit our website and create your account. You’ll receive instant access to your secure dashboard—no installation required.
Step 2: Connect Your POS System
From your POS Detective dashboard, select your POS platform and follow the guided prompts to authorize access. This allows POS Detective to read your transaction data securely through your POS provider’s approved API.
Step 3: Start Detecting Suspicious Activity
Within minutes, POS Detective begins analyzing real-time transactions and employee actions. You’ll see automated reports highlighting irregularities, potential theft patterns, and cash handling risks—all with visual analytics designed for managers and auditors.
Data Flow
Inbound data: The POS sends transaction records, employee activity logs (e.g., refunds, discounts, no-sales), and location identifiers to POS Detective through a read-only, encrypted API connection.
Processing: POS Detective’s cloud service analyzes this data in real time using proprietary algorithms to identify irregular or suspicious activity patterns.
Storage: Only essential transactional metadata is stored in a secure U.S.-based database (AWS), key data is encrypted at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+).
Outbound data: Summary insights, alerts, and analytics dashboards are displayed to the merchant through a secure web portal at posdetective.com
No transactional or payment data is ever written back to the POS system.
